Oh Fadoodles

I just came back from my 3rd chemo treatment and I’m not in the mood to look for silver linings. I just feel bummed. Not down-and-out depressed bummed. More like “oh fadoodles” bummed. Okay, I’m not sure that fadoodles is a real word. Bobby taught it to me and that in itself is rather scary. Regardless, I like it and it comes in handy:

“Oh fadoodles, I can’t find my keys”

“Oh fadoodles, I forgot to record Real Housewives”

“OH FADOODLES, I have to take 6 chemo treatments instead of 4.”

Yes 6. Instead of looking at only 1 more treatment, I’m looking at 3 more. My brain needs to re-adjust and it’s not re-adjusting fast enough. This has to soak in. But luckily wine is still tasting good to me tonight, along with pizza and chocolate. Luckily my Fall wardrobe consists of sweatpants. Luckily sweatpants stretch.

Long story short… my original plan was 4 chemo treatments. After a lot of research and thought, we decided to go the Herceptin route which changed my treatments to 6. I hung on the words of the specialist at Rush who said that if she had a patient who was really beaten up after 4 treatments, she stopped them at 4. For some reason, I believed I would be that beaten up patient and therefore would only do 4.

Wrong. Fortunately (or unfortunately) I’m tolerating the chemo pretty well so my doctor is highly recommending that I continue. Since I always listen to my incredible doctor, I’ll be adding two more treatments.

So, it looks like you’ll be hearing from me through December. Go ahead, say it…

OH FADOODLES…

I’m half way done.

I kind of like the sound of that word fadoodles. Almost sounds like it could be a new cheesy crunchy snack. That Bobby, he is so brilliant! Half way to that finish line Cathy. We are here with you for the rest of the journey. Take care.

Been thinking about this a lot….Instinctively I want to protect you from any more treatments and say don’t do it..but fadoodles-it is the right thing to do. Yep, half way done!

Cathy, a hero isn’t superhuman. It’s a person that just gets through the day the best she can. You cured the Fadoodles with pizza, chocolate, and wine! You looked the new treatment schedule in the eye, and said “I’m halfway done” You are Jedi Knight of chemo! The force is with you. Love, Noreen
