Follow You, Follow Me…

Ten years ago today Bob and I got married on an absolutely gorgeous April day. Earlier that week it had snowed and rained, but our wedding day was warm, sunny, and beautiful.

I married my best friend that day. We never could have guessed what life would have in store for us as we exchanged our vows but we (like everyone does!) took a giant leap of faith. We dove in head first. We had no idea what we were getting into. But we never looked back.

It’s been an incredible 10 years. Not always easy–we’ve certainly had challenges to overcome–but we’ve always weathered the stormy days and have grown so much closer through the years. Bob has made me a better person, or I should say I want to be a better person for him. I couldn’t imagine traveling this road with anyone other than Bob and I’m thankful everyday that we found each other.

He is so dear. His heart is gentle. His soul is kind. He is positive and forgiving. He believes in me when I don’t believe in myself and he stands by me when I think many people would run for the hills! He’s the most incredible father and when I see Bobby look into his eyes, I see him looking at his hero.

Bob pulled us through the toughest year of our lives. He got us through this ordeal and my heart is overflowing with gratitude for all he did, for all he does, for all he is.

Early in our relationship, we both realized that one of our favorite songs was “Follow You, Follow Me” by Genesis and we always knew we would dance to that song on our wedding day. Unfortunately we had a bossy DJ who somehow talked us out of it (he claimed it was too fast for a 1st dance.) We eventually danced to “our” song later that evening and even though it wasn’t our official dance, it was the dance that meant the most to us. And as the years go by, the words of that song continue to mean so much more than I ever thought they could.

Bob, as we celebrate our 10th year and look to the future, I love our song more than ever. I love you more than ever…
